Talking About Clearstory

Added on by David Collins.

The good folks at Valley House Gallery filmed a talk I did about the show while I was in Dallas. Thanks to Richard Serrano for filming and editing this piece.

Dallas Art News

Kent Boyer wrote a really nice review of the show for Dallas Art News

"When you see David Collins’ work you’ll think, “I’ve never seen anything like this before.”  And if you look at a lot of art, you know how rare that is.  His style is mature and cosmopolitan and unusual.  You won’t be disappointed."

Modern Dallas Weekly

Todd Camplin reviewed Clearstory in Modern Dallas Weekly.

"David Collins says his work is about memory, but I see a lot of history here as well.   Collins paintings give you an overview of modern art in just one painting. The work is abstract, minimalist like muted colors, cubist/futurist like shapes, flat, but playing with dimensionality. Collins further connects through his reference of   collage and architectural objects. References to point perspective help to
trace connections from work made over 500 years ago."

Going Back to Dallas

Added on by David Collins.

I am headed back home to Dallas for a few days. I am going back not just for the heat and the good people, but I'll have some work in the third annual Dallas Art Fair, April 8th - 10th. I am very privileged to be working with Valley House Gallery, so if you can be there, look for their booth.

Can't Help Myself

Added on by David Collins.

Every year I say that I'll leave the studio as is. Every year I give in and paint the walls for the Open Studios. This year I am later than usual but the walls are now sparkling. The studio is never this clean when I'm working but it does feel good. Like a clean set of sheets to sleep on.
